We were bringing her back home<br \/>\nand she pleaded with her uncle to get her mother to let her stay for a<br \/>\nwhile longer:<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gallery.leica-users.org\/d\/113297-1\/_DSC0338.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Her mother, nervously declined and explained that her father wanted<br \/>\nher home now:<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gallery.leica-users.org\/d\/113299-1\/_DSC0340.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She was nervous, because she herself knew that it was a breach of<br \/>\ncustom. The maternal uncle has more authority over the children of a<br \/>\nfamily than a biological father. That is the way a <span class=\"nfakPe\">matriarchy<\/span> works.<\/p>\n<p>It was an awkward moment, a clash between traditional and modern<br \/>\nvalues and he felt the clumsiness of the situation. Deep down, he felt<br \/>\nit wasn&#8217;t a good reason.
